The difference between a singular noun and a plural noun is that: singular nouns name only one thing (girl), while plural nouns name more than one thing (girls). Plural nouns usually have "s" or "es" to end them. In some cases, though, the spelling of the noun will not change for plural and singular spelling: salmon remains the same, sheep remains the same, etc.
